Do we have a relationship with any of the local league clubs for loan players should we need them? Shaun Harrad did the business when he came on loan from Notts County.

GN: I ask Notts County every week about Shaun but he still has another year on his contract. Yes we do have good contacts at Notts County and we will be looking to use them should we require a loan player but I would only want a player who really wants to come here. There have been some who have not even tried so we wouldn't want players like that.

Mark Evans (ME): There are three players who come to mind who really played well for us on loan - Sean Clarey from Derby County, Sean Harrad and Saul Deeny from Notts County. All three of them demonstrated to me that they all wanted to be professional footballers through their attitude both on and off the field.

Are there any good young local players about?

Mick Curry (MC): Yes there are. There are one or two playing for my previous club for instance who have the skills. These young lads could do very well if they put their mind to playing at a higher level. But, have they got the desire? At local clubs they are virtually guaranteed a shirt but if they go up a level or so they would have to be prepared to fight for a shirt.

GN: Being critical of myself looking back over the last two seasons I didn't give many young players much of a chance of a sustained run in the squad, only the odd game here and there.

Other clubs go down the academy route and invest in that. I would like to put one or two youngsters into the first team for a decent run but it's a catch 22 situation because the supporters want to see success and if I play a few youngsters and we lose those games I would be under pressure from the fans to change things.

You mentioned trialists earlier, how many are coming to the club?

GN: There will be one or two at training tomorrow and one or two still on holiday. I would say we have six or seven trialists at the moment. Some of them contacted the club and some are players we've contacted. During the pre-season we will trim things down to players that we will offer terms to. There will also be players who will become available as the start of the season comes nearer.
