Tipton Town vs Gresley FC

The Reserves traveled to Wolverhampton University - Walsall Campus to take on Tipton Town Reserves on their 3G surface.

Two changes were made from Wednesday nights 9-3 victory over Lichfield, with Ryan Clemson replacing Callum Porter at centre-back and Harry Lansdowne coming in for Sam Hammerton upfront.

It was Gresley who made the early running and had chances to open the scoring via Lansdowne, Lee and Dutton but were unable to do so.

The home side began to get into the game and it showed they enjoy playing on their home surface and were more used to it than their visitors.

The home side were denied by a mixture of a good offside trap, good goalkeeping and defending.

The opening goal came on 38 minutes when Kane Lee beat his man on the right side and his fierce low cross was slid in by the stretching Harry Lansdowne at the far post.

After the interval Tipton began brightly and their top scorer Agyemang dragged a shot wide when for once got the better of the Gresley defence.

As they forced Gresley deeper they were missing the killer ball to open Gresley uo again and they were made to pay in the 70th minute when sub Sam Hammerton doubled the Moatmen's lead, a poor pass was intercepted and Ward released Hammerton who's first effort was weak but came back to him off the home keeper and his second effort was sublime as he cooly chipped over the stranded keeper.

Three minutes later it was 3-0 as Gresley now clearly playing with more confidence strode forward and right-back Harry Hughes drilled a right footed unstoppable strike into the top corner.

The scoreline could of been more when Connor Ward weaved his way through the defence but his shot was blocked by the home keeper.

An important three points were sealed in a tricky away game, leaving Gresley Reserves lying in 5th place in the Midland League Reserves Division.
