Beattie off to Rushall

Gresley Rovers’ defender Dave Beattie is set to start the New Year with a new club.
Although the Irish full back was in Gresley’s squad today, his transfer to Banks’s League title rivals Rushall Olympic is due to be finalised over the weekend.

Beattie has opted for Rushall in preference to Beazer Homes Midland Division side Stourbridge, with whom he had agreed terms earlier in the week.

Gresley have not disclosed the fee involved, but secretary Peter Jenkinson said: “We will be recouping the money we paid for Dave when he joined us during the summer from Wednesfield Social.”

Atherstone United manager Ron Bradbury has offered to loan striker Andy Maddocks to the Moatmen, while front-runners Tracey Norton and Graham Jones recuperate from injuries.

But Rovers’ boss Frank Northwood said: “It’s nice of Ron to help us, but I haven’t yet decided whether to take him up on his offer. I’ll see how we fare over the weekend before deciding whether to take the business any further.”
