Gresley Rovers made one of the biggest profits in their history last season, supporters will be told at tonight’s annual meeting (8pm).
Accounts released by the Banks’s League Premier Division club show a surplus of £4,454 on the year ended May 31st.

It is the second season in succession that Rovers’ profit has broken through the £4,000 barrier.

Income rose from £39,000 to more than £47,000, of which almost £33,000 was poured into the club’s coffers by their highly-successful Supporters’ Club tote.

Gate receipts, including canteen and programme sales, leapt by almost £4,000 to £11,300 and there was also an increase in money raised from sponsorship and advertising.

Match expenses rose by more than £5,000 to almost £30,500, but at £18,000 players wages and expenses were contained virtually at the level of the previous season.
