Barrie Morton & George Sutton with Richard Wardle at his testimonial match

Past players familiar to many Gresley Rovers fans will be playing for Richard Wardle’s team in his testimony tomorrow night (Thurs) K.O. 7.30pm.
Among those turning out against Notts County are members of the 1996/ 1997 Dr Martens Premier League Championship winning side, which includes the then player/ manager Paul Futcher, Tony Marsden, Graeme Fowkes, Andy Garner, Mark Blount, and Mark Hurst.

The 1990/ 1991 FA Vase side that were involved in what many believe was the best cup final ever seen at Wembley will also be represented by Martin Dick, Craig Weston, Paul Acklam and Neil Lovell.

Richard’s present team colleagues James Lindley and Stuart Evans are also included in the squad along with other current players.

Richard has been at Gresley Rovers for 11 yrs, almost unheard of in present day football, and made over 500 appearances and for many of the Moat Ground faithful been Mr Consistency for season upon season.

The admission price for the game is £4 for adults and £2 concessions.
