Moat boss to axe flops
Story courtesy of Andy Parker - Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers chief Brian Kenning plans to wield the axe after seeing his side sink to a 3-1 home defeat by Gloucester City at the Moat Ground on Saturday.
Ritchie Gardner gave Rovers a first half lead but a blunder by teenaged keeper Ian Simms handed City a swift equaliser and two goals in the final three minutes sealed victory for the visitors.
It was an outcome that left Kenning less than happy, with Moat boss storming: "That was yet another self-inflicted defeat.

"Gloucester haven't done anything to help themselves, we've given them three goals.
"I've told the players I've had enough. I'll be making changes and getting some new players in."
Kenning said he was already in talks with two potential new recruits, a front-runner and a utility player, and said that two of his existing squad could be on their way out.

He singled out 19-year-old Simms, Rovers' hero in the 3-2 FA Trophy win at North Ferriby a week before, for criticism, saying: " He gave two goals away. We've got five keepers here and I don't know if any of them are any good.

"We were comfortable at 1-0 then he's made an horrific mistake. Then when they've only got to defend to make sure of a point, we've conceded two stupid goals."

Kenning could now well ring the changes in time for Saturday's difficult trip to high-riding Evesham.
Meanwhile, midfielder Mark Peters, booked for a fifth time this season on Saturday, now faces a ban.
