Pemberton out for rest of season
James Pemberton

James Pemberton

Goalkeeper James Pemberton, who stood in at the last minute against Chorley although suffering a knee injury, has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
First team keeper Tommy Whittle had been struck down by food poisoning the previous evening and Gavin Saxby could not be contacted.

Pemberton who made a couple of good saves during the game has now been told he needs surgery on his knee.

Manager Gary Norton said today: "I got a phone call from James last night and the results of a scan have revealed that he requires an operation.

"His knee cap is touching his femur, so they need to cut away some ligament to re-align the joint. He is going in next week but then there will be a recovery period of six to eight weeks.

"We would like to thank him again for stepping in on Saturday and hopefully, he will be fit in time to have a good pre-season after the summer."

"In an emergency, the UniBond League will let us sign a third goalkeeper as long as they are from a lower division, but touch wood, we won't need to do that because Tommy is back in training and Gavin is also available."
