Injury and weather cast a cloud

Striker Shaun Bedward is the major doubt ahead of Gresley Rovers trip to Weston-super-Mare tomorrow (3pm) after picking up a foot injury in last week's 1-0 Moat Ground victory over Racing Club Warwick.
The former Bromsgrove frontman has not trained all week and looks certain to miss out - if the game goes ahead.

Weston saw their last home game with leaders Hinckley United on Tuesday called off because of a waterlogged pitch, and with heavy rain since and more forecast for today and tomorrow, there is a serious doubt hanging over the clash.

Boss John McGinlay is already without suspended midfielder Mark Peters, but defender Matt Warren and striker Ravi Sangha may be named in the squad as they continue their comeback from injury.

The Moat boss is eager for tomorrow's clash to be given the go-ahead as he looks to build on last week's victory.

Said the Moat boss: "We are looking to finish the season with a good run. I think a bit of a cloud was lifted when we won last week and our confidence should grow. Weston are similar to us in that they are a mid-table side and they blow hot and cold - I just hope we catch them on a bad day. I was pleased with the performance last week, the only problem we have at the moment is scoring goals. In the last three or four games we have created plenty of chances but not taken them and the strikers need a goal at the moment. Once they get one I think they will get back in the groove, it is only a matter of time."

Defender Ian Bluck looks like being out for the rest of the season after failing to shake off a leg injury.

Said McGinlay: "It looks like his season is over. He has been out for four weeks now and he is nowhere near. He has tried to come back a couple of times and has broken down again and it is important now that he gets right for next season."

McGinlay himself is close to a return to action after resuming training this week after being out with a calf injury.
"I have trained twice this week and should be in the frame quite soon." Said the Moat boss. "And that is good news because I need all the players I can get with all the games we have coming up."
