McGinlay musters his troops
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
John McGinlay is facing up to the prospect of having to juggle all his playing resources as he prepares for what will be a hectic start to next month.
Between the 7th and 18th of April the Moatmen face six games, including long trips to Weston-super-Mare and Tiverton.

And the Moat boss is well aware he will have to call on the services of most of his squad to get Rovers through their tough schedule.

Said McGinlay: "April is very much going to be a squad month with six games in twelve days. The whole squad will be involved at some stage and I have had a chat to players who have either been on the fringes or have been playing in the reserves and told them that they will be given a chance. One good thing is that we are starting to get some of our injured players back, with Ravi Sangha, Neil Kitching and Carl Middleton playing for the reserves last night. Matt Warren should return to training next week and I should be back in action in a week or two."

While Rovers are facing a hectic fortnight, McGinlay also believes this run of games could see a big improvement in the Moatmen's fortunes as the new players he has brought into the club continue to settle in and gel.

Said the Moat boss: "I have been happy with the players I have brought in and I think they will continue to improve things as they get settled in and continue to gel as a team. They are still getting to know each other and I think we will see better results next season. The good thing is that by putting five or six players in now, if we add two or three in the summer it won't be such a big overhaul."

Kitching scored the only goal of the game as Gresley reserves beat Ilkeston in the quarter-finals of the Midland Combination Challenge Trophy in a game switched to the New Manor Ground because Gresley's pitch was waterlogged.
They now face Shepshed in the semi-finals next Saturday. Tomorrow the reserves are away to Barwell in the league (2.45pm).

Reserves from: Wright, Evans, Witham, Middleton, Cheetham, Bradshaw, Dennis, Kearns, Wagstaff, Kitching, Pole, Lewsley, Smith, Menzies, Jordan, Moran, Tilley.
