Rovers pile up the points
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers extended their lead at the top of the West Midlands League to nine points last night after a 3-2 win over Willenhall Town.star signs...

An instant attraction could well spring up between clinical relations manager Rachel (Sagittarius) and footballer Ian (Aries), who are both down-to-earth fire signs. A shared love of the outdoors and physical activity could mean this relationship blossoms into more than just a fling.

Timmy & Ricardo the "Drive time duo" have been broadcasting live from Vegas all week and updating listeners on the romance.

Ian has kept an online diary and this along with video clips and more pictures of his adventures can be seen at www.brmb.co.uk.
Two goals from midfielder Neil Lovell helped Rovers overcome the setback of conceding a third-minute goal to the home side, the first a fifth-minute equaliser and the second the 69th-minute winner.

Manager Frank Northwood was far from happy with Rovers’ performance, however, saying afterwards: “We played badly and I’m quite happy with the points. I always thought it would be difficult for us here.”

Rovers have been handed a passport to the final of the West Midlands League Cup.

The league champions, who last won the cup in 1990, meet struggling Westfields over two legs, the first away on Tuesday, March 24th, with the return on Tuesday, April 24th.

Gresley will be pleased to have avoided Sutton Coldfield-based Paget Rangers, who beat them 3-0 in November – one of only four league defeats Gresley have suffered this season.

Hereford-based Westfields have also beaten the league champions this season, triumphing 2-1 in August in Rovers first away trip of the season.

Revenge was extracted when the Herefordshire side were beaten 4-1 at the Moat Ground in December, adding to a demise that has seen them drop from the top six to the bottom four in the league table.

Paget meet Wednesfield in the other semi-final.
