Match Report  |  Bardon Hill vs Gresley FC

After a goalless first half Bardon Hill managed to snatch a pre-season win over neighbours Gresley with goals from Luke Tozer and Jamie Disney.

A new face in the Gresley side, Daryl Thomas levelled but a poor second goal enabled Bardon to hold on to the win.

On a very bobbly, hard surface and in a blustery wind both sides found it difficult to carve out any real chances the closest for Gresley from Sam Grice who fired over and for Bardon a shot which Ryan Swift blocked well at his near post with the follow up cleared off the line.

Gresley had one more chance in the first half when Kallum Keane headed Chris Richards corner from the left narrowly over the bar.

Within a couple of minutes of the re-start after the break Bardon took the lead. A corner was swung over and Gresley looked as if they were still in the dressing room allowing Tozer to head home.

The home side had a good chance to have doubled their lead six minutes later when former Moatman Richard Hanslow was sent through but Swift reacted quickly to dive at the striker's feet smothering the ball.

Gresley's Dereece Gardner was unlucky not to have got off the mark with his first goal for the club but his lovely curled effort left keeper Josh O'Brien motionless but cannoned back off the far post.

The Moatmen's goal was easily the best of the game. Sam Grice strode out of defence and threaded the ball to Ryan King who in turn made further ground before putting the perfect ball in Thomas's path and he coolly slipped the ball past O'Brien.

Gresley made wholesale changes which seemed to disjoint their game while Bardon, with only three substitutes, were able to hold their shape and were less disrupted.

With only eight minutes of the game remaining Bardon won a corner from the left. The ball came over and unfortunately the young substitute keeper Adam Binks could only palm the ball out a few feet to Disney who fired the ball back and into the net.

The visitors had a half chance in the closing seconds of the game but substitute Connor Ward's shot lacked any pace to test O'Brien at his near post.
