Rushall Olympic vs Gresley Rovers

Team from: Pemberton, Dunn, Gadsby, Mawbey, Cox(c), Heer, Williams, Yearsley, Holmes, Whetton, Rowell, C. Smith.

I thought we might struggle today with a tough away visit to Rushall. We were missing a number of players and called on the Youth team again for support. Both Holmes and Whetton started in a 4-5-1 formation, either side of our forward Pat Rowell. So three 16 year olds leading the line.

For a game that finished in a 0-0 draw this was very entertaining with a result nearly going either way.

It took about twenty minutes for Holmes and Whetton to settle in but after that, both did very well. The width of the pitch suited them, giving them lots of space in which to work. Their speed and nimble feet caused Rushall
some concern. Matt Holmes came very close to scoring as his fine shot skimmed the foot of the post.

This was a good effort from Gresley, the midfield worked hard and did well, Heer, Williams and Yearsley, as did Dunn filling in at right back.

I felt we did enough to win the game, but were unlucky on a few occasions.
Having said this Rushall could also have took it but for some quality saves from Pembo, especially in the last few minutes.

Good performance and a good point away from home.
