Quorn vs Gresley Rovers

This game held the most disastrous start to my match preparations I have ever experienced, what you can do when your keeper is detained by the boys in blue en route for shall we say showing a little to much eagerness to get to the game on time.

So a tricky away game at a place where we've had a bit of history in the past, without a keeper, we needed a super hero, up step Super Ryan, Ryan thankfully for me volunteered to go in the nets, without the aid of safety gloves!

The team talk basically consisted of; under no circumstances should the ball get through to Ryan, protect him!

The lads performed admirably the played out of their skins, Mykey Pryce especially enjoyed his evening, constantly dancing past his marker, he finally got his reward on the 20 minute mark when he skipped round a Quorn defender on the edge of the box and crashed a shot in off the underside of the bar 1-0 to Gresley.

We continued to dominate the game, with Shakespeare and Perry defending with great composure against a busy Quorn forward line. We doubled our lead on the half hour when Zak Jackson drove through the middle of the park and hit a low shot in from all of 25 yards which nestled in the bottom corner of the net, 2- 0 to the Rovers.

Half time came and went and Quorn started to attack us with a bit more purpose, they eventually got their reward with a scrabbled goal, to make it 2-1, from there on in we dominated and missed our usual half dozen chances, Greg Smith and Andy Dunn in particularly dominated this final period of play, and it was they who served up the 3rd goal.

Greg made a great run down the right, he cut in and headed for goal only to be chopped down at what appeared top be waist height, penalty, up stepped Dunn, he scores, the ref wants it taken again, Dunn steps up for the 2nd time, he shoots he scores again, 3-1 and well dissevered.

A great all round battling performance with the odd silky moment, Thanks Ryan.
