Gresley Rovers vs Chasetown

Rovers Reserve team trounced Chasetown 7-0 at the moat ground. 3 youth team players started the game. The ever present Nathan Tate was joined by fellow youth teamers Matt Brown and Richard Foster in the starting line-up. Carl Eagling made his 1st start upfront.

Rovers took the lead on 3 minutes after a bad back pass was intercepted by Jon Jenkinson and he coolly slotted home past Lee Stephen in the visitor goal. Skipper Mickey Sandar made it 2-0 after 13 minutes when his free kick from 25 yards found the top corner of the net.

Chasetown tried to get back into the game and would have done so but for a tremendous save from Brad Clarke on 26 minutes. Craig Webster’s shot on the turn looked like a certain goal until Clarke somehow turned the ball away for a corner. 2 minutes later the game was over as a contest when Nathan Tate's 35 yard volley flew into the bottom corner of the net despite Lee Stephens eccentric attempts to stop the ball feet first.

Mickey Sandar’s second of the game from a 30 yard drive made the half time score 4-0. A through ball from James Parkinson enabled Jon Jenkinson to make it 5-0 with his second on 49 minutes. Mykey Pryce came off the bench to grab a brace with goals on 62 and 69 minutes to complete the scoring.
