Taylor move?
Story courtesy of
Gresley Rovers’ midfielder Colin Taylor is considering a transfer offer from Southern League Midland Division club Leicester United.
Taylor, selected this week for the Leicestershire County FA representative squad, has struggled to find his form since joining Gresley from Anstey Nomads in November.

And recently his place in the Rovers side has come under threat from new signing Gary Stevens.

“Colin has found Banks’s League a bit fast for him,” said Moat Ground manager Frank Northwood last night.

“But it takes time to adjust. He’s obviously a good passer of the ball but I’m not happy with the way he’s been playing. He’s thinking over the move but I don’t think he’s all that keen to move.”

Taylor is one of two local players in Leicestershire’s squad to play Lincolnshire at Grantham on February 4th along with former Gresley defender Brian Attley, now with Stapenhill.

Vase hopefuls

Gresley Rovers’ FA Vase opponents, Warrington, are optimistic that Saturday’s fourth round game can go ahead.

The North West Counties Leaguer’s Common Lane pitch was played on last Saturday – Warrington drew 0-0 with Darwin – and has had a covering of snow ever since.

But Rovers’ secretary, Mervyn Eaton , said last night: I’ve spoken to Warrington today and I would say they’re reasonably optimistic. The pitch is due for an inspection at 3pm tomorrow, but they’ll probably leave the final decision until Saturday morning.”

Gresley will travel to one of their most important games in their recent history with a small army of supporters using a fleet of coaches.
