Rovers hope rivals show league form
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers plan to teat out trialist Richard Wardle and give defender Stuart Evans a full 90 minutes in tonight’s game.
Manager Frank Northwood said last night: “Wardle is a 21-year-old who has just been released from a contract by Tamworth. He’s been recommended to me from a very good source and is obviously worth a look – he played a lot of first team football for Tamworth last season.”

Evans has struggled to establish himself in Rovers’ side because of limited opportunities but Northwood said: “He’s been very patient and deserves a chance.”

But the veteran boss insisted that the changes were no indication that Rovers were taking the fixture lightly.

“It’s certainly no friendly – there’s no such thing,” he said. “Burton Albion are obviously the favourites – they’re two leagues higher than us – but we’ll be looking to hold our own.

“Burton have been doing well in the cups and not so well in the league. Well, I’m hoping they show their league form against us tonight – if they do we might be in with a chance.”
