Gresley Rovers vs Mickleover RBL

Brian at the double – Burton Mail

Top scorer Brian Beresford was on target twice as Gresley snatched victory in last night’s friendly at the Moat Ground.

Kevin Banton proving his fitness after being injured in Saturday’s FA Vase win over Eastwood Hanley, accounted for Rovers’ other goal direct from a free kick.

The match against the Derby side managed by former Rovers boss Peter Shone, was arranged to give Gresley the chance to blood some promising reserve team players.

Goalkeeper Lee Harrison, currently playing superbly for Rovers’ second string, seized his chance with a display of safe handling.

The game was cut to 35 minutes each way to protect the Moat Ground pitch from damage in driving rain.
