Quorn vs Gresley Rovers

Gresley Rovers 2 - 0 Quorn

Rovers: Willdig, Steele, A Moore, Sharrocks, Camm, M Johnson, Walker, S Gray, N Clemson,
M Bailey, Cowlishaw. Sub: Walshe.

Quorn: Taylor, Sykes, Smyth, Pale, Slater, Wilmot, Kearl, Watts, Chapman, Hollier, Lord.

Sub: Kenney.

Rovers progressed to the first round with a two-nil victory against the Leicestershire Senior League side.

It took Rovers just eight minutes to take the lead when Malcolm Bailey neatly turned his marker before finding Neil Clemson with a pin point cross which he headed powerfully home.

Two Colin Walker free kicks might well have provided the openings for further goals with Mark Johnson being just inches away from connecting to the first and Dave Camm heading the second one over.

Chris Sharrocks' first team return after a pre-season injury lasted just 22 minutes when he sustained a gashed eyebrow following a clash of heads with Chapman.

It proved only a minor setback because a minute later Rovers opened up their match winning advantage when sub Richard Walshe rammed the ball firmly home after a good move involving Gray and Johnson.

Quorn came more into the game after the interval with Willdig excelling on two occasions. Rovers could have added more goals but Quorn held out.
