Gresley Rovers face an FA Vase trip to Essex of Mersyside – if they beat Knowsley in their delayed 5th round tie.
Yesterday’s inconclusive 6th round draw matched the winners of Saturday’s game with either Cammel Laird or Harwich and Parkstone.

Cammel Laid are champions of the Tetley Walker West Cheshire League while Essex-based Harwich and Parkstone play in the Jewson Eastern League.

Rovers boss Frank Northwood was today taking a “one match at a time” attitude towards the tie.

“I won’t even look at the next round until we’ve had a look at the one we’re still involved in,” he said.

“The lads just hope we can play on Saturday. Obviously, the draw means we’re away again if we win, and Harwich in particular is a long, long way to travel.

“At the moment all we can do is take one match at a time. It doesn’t look as if we’ll have a midweek game but we’re training at Pingle school gym tomorrow night. In a way it will help us to shake off a few knocks to have a week off but it also helps other teams with players under suspension.”

Rovers keeper Bob Aston has postponed an operation to have a steel pin removed from the thumb he broke in December. The operation will now take place on Monday, clearing Aston to play on Saturday if selected.
