Gaz Norton's Reserve team news

The Reserve’s are away at Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday in a top of the table clash possibly without 3 of our star players so far this season.
At the time of writing, I’m not sure who I’ve got in my squad or not but Carl Timms, Earl Alexander and Matt Moran were all in the 1st Team squad on Tuesday and it’s a real possibility that they may all be involved again today. I’ve been working away abroad so didn’t make the game on Tuesday and when I heard that both Carl and Earl had started the game, I was delighted for them. I was even more pleased for Carl when I heard that he had won the sponsors Man of the Match award. Well done Carl from me and all the lads in the Reserve Team squad.

Obviously, its nice to win games but if we go to Boldmere without 3 of our most influential players because they are in the 1st team squad then Simon and I have done our job as that’s the whole point of having a Reserve Team, especially at a club like our where we cannot afford to throw loads of cash around bringing in players every few weeks. The step up of Carl, Earl and Matt will also gives other lads in the Reserve squad a chance to play more regularly. It will also show the lads that Jon is the sort of guy that will give them a chance if it is warranted.

This season in the Reserves, we have a big young squad this season and even without 3 of our more influential lads will still give most of the sides in the league a tough game.

We are on our travels a fair bit this month. We travel to Highgate in the League next Saturday and then to Quorn on Tuesday 12th for the Challenge Cup 2nd round. Its away again the following Saturday (16th) this time to Solihull Borough. We are next in Moat Ground action on the 23rd when Chasetown are the visitors.
