Gresley Rovers boss John McGinlay hauled his team over the coals after they slipped to a disappointing defeat at Congleton Town on Saturday.
The former Scotland international who said there was "nothing" encouraging about his team's performance, snapped: "You'll never win a match if you don't turn up for the second half - and we didn't."

The player boss had been in good heart before the game after seeing his team win 4-1 at Sutton Coldfield in mid-week but he lamented: " All the good work from Tuesday was undone in one fell swoop today. We had a chat about it after the game and certain people know they have let us down. Now we'll wait for a reaction. But there's an awful lot of work to be done. A lack of consistency has been the problem all season and that's what we have to try and address.

" We did a great job in the first half with all the elements against us. I was so happy at half-time that I went in for a quick word then went out on the pitch to warm up. But we came out for the second half and never got out of the traps."

McGinlay now plans to run the rule over members of his first team squad in Wednesday's reserve team game against Ilkeston at the Moat Ground.

Said the Rovers boss: " A few of the boys haven't played for a while and they need games. There will be a very strong team out on Wednesday."
