Another new face?
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood is poised to make an important new signing on the eve of his team’s Evans Halshaw Floodlit Cup clash with Alfreton.
Northwood has team selection problems for tomorrow’s first home game in the competition but declared: “There might be a new face in the line-up.”

He told the Mail he has been chasing a quality player for several weeks and that he could be on the verge of clinching the deal.

If he does pull off the transfer coup the new man will go straight into action tomorrow.

But the Moatmen will definitely be without three key players as they look to score their first victory in the competition.

Defender John Bottomley limped off after 65 minutes of Saturday’s Derbyshire Senior Cup tie with Long Eaton and is not expected to shake off the leg injury.

Striker Wayne Scally is another casualty from the weekend’s action. He was taken off after 57 minutes with a groin injury.

With Kieron Smith unavailable because of work commitments Northwood will be forced to reshuffle his side.

He will also be looking to reverse the defeat suffered by his side at Alfreton two weeks ago in Rovers debut in the competition.
