Gresley Rovers will hear in the next few days why their hopes of joining the Beazer Homes league were dashed by a grounds grading committee.
The Banks’s League runners-up were ruled out by Beazer League officials after close scrutiny of the Moat Ground.

The league operates a tough selection procedure with its feeder divisions demanding a high standard of facilities before they accept a promotion application.

Rovers hopes of acceptance were high but they received a letter from the Beazer league informing them that Midland Combination outfit RC Warwick had won the promotion spot.

The ruling came through on May 22nd but since then Gresley have been kept in the dark about the reason behind their rejection.

But today Beazer Homes league secretary Dennis Strudwick has told the Mail that the club can expect an answer within the next few days.

He said: “I have been on holiday which explains the delay but I will be writing to all the clubs concerned as soon as possible with full details. I sincerely hope Gresley are able to re-apply next year and I will be sending them full details of why their application this time was refused.”

“With the right advice they will be able to make the necessary improvements during the next season.”
