Norton Adds To Management Team
Gresley FC can announce that caretaker manager Gary Norton has agreed a deal to bring the former Evesham United management team of Carl Abbott and Paul Tomlinson to join him at the Moat ground until the end of the season.
Norton has been looking to add some much needed experience and know-how to the Moat Ground backroom staff for the remainder of the season and believes he has found the right guys in Abbott and Tomlinson. Until Monday evening Abbott was manager of Southern League Division One league side Evesham United assisted by Tomlinson but the pair parted company with the Worcestershire club earlier in the week just 6 points outside the playoff places.
On news of the pair joining the club Norton revealed, "Carl and I used to chat a little on the phone when he was manager of Quorn but we hadn't spoken for a while. I became aware of Carl's situation on Monday evening and immediately sought to set up to meet both him and Paul Tomlinson on Tuesday.
"It was a very productive and positive discussion which ended up with me being able to convince Carl and Paul to come on board with us. We seemed to hit things off straight away and I’m really looking forward to them getting to know the squad and everyone else connected with the club moving forwards"
He added, "Carl and Paul have worked together for several years with a few clubs and in that time have developed a great knowledge of the game and also a huge contacts base which is exactly the skill mix I've been looking for so I'm really pleased they have both agreed to join.
"Carl and I have agreed we will work on a joint caretaker manager basis until the end of the season and then see what develops from there".
