New Manager Revealed
Gresley FC are delighted to announce Gavin Hurren as the club's new first team manager.
The former Nottingham Forest trainee defender enjoyed a successful non-league playing career in the Conference Premier and North divisions. After leaving Forest in 2004 Gavin joined Kidderminster Harriers and played in the 2007 FA Trophy Final at Wembley narrowly losing out on a winners medal after a 3-2 defeat by Stevenage Borough. He then had further spells in the Conference with Mansfield Town, Crawley Town, Gateshead and Tamworth before Joining Solihull Moors and then Hinckley United in the Conference North. Gavin also represented Wales at U17 and U19 level.

The 33 year old who captained many of the sides he played for during his career has had his eye on management for a while and over the last 6 seasons has worked within various management teams as an assistant manager with the aim of learning what it takes to become a manager in his own right. Gavin sufficiently impressed the five man selection panel at interview and the club are delighted to offer Gavin this opportunity.

Gavin will be in attendance at today’s game at Cleethorpes

Gresley FC Chairman Mark Alflat commenting on the appointment said “We received a total of 17 applications for the position which we were really pleased with and took a great deal of time last weekend in discussing who we would shortlist for interview which in its own right was very difficult given the calibre of many of the applicants. Those we interviewed impressed us greatly but the panel saw a number of standout qualities during Gavin’s interview that impressed to the point that the panel unanimously agreed that we would be the club to give Gavin his first opportunity to make his mark as a manager in his own right”
