Carlton Pre-Match News
Gresley FC travel to face Carlton for the 3rd time this season in the 2nd round of the League Cup hoping to avenge the league double the Nottinghamshire side have already completed over the Moatmen in the league.
Of particular note was the nightmare performance in late September which saw Carlton hammer Gresley 5-0 and led to manager Gary Norton issuing an apology to supporters and all connected with the club. Norton will be looking for an improved performance and result this time round.

In team news the Gresley manager shuffles his squad and looks set to hand a start to Jake McIntosh at centre half. Callum Riddell, Connor Ward and Dexter Morris Clarke who were also on the bench with McIntosh for Saturday's 2-2 draw at Spalding are also expected to start.

Dominic Allen has returned to Gresley and is included in the squad tonight. Allen did a full pre-season with Gresley but returned to his former club Belper Town just before the start of the season.

Manager Gary Norton explained: “Dom contacted us last week asking if he could return and give things a go here at Gresley so we put 7 days in and that cleared yesterday.

"He can play in a few positions and offers us both flexibility and experience and although at the moment we are in okay shape squad number wise but certainly welcome his return. He knows he may have to be patient, especially to get a run of games in his preferred central midfield slot but we will see how it goes in the coming weeks.

"We registered him today and he will certainly be involved at Carlton tonight although he’s not played since 8th September.

Norton also includes the experienced Danny Holmes in the squad and also Carl Slater returns after missing the last couple of games. Lucas Harrison also returns after missing Saturday's trip to Spalding ahead of the birth of his baby daughter as does Cam Steele after missing out due to an exam on Saturday. Eric Graves, Kane Jellyman, Alex Steadman, Martin Smyth and Jamie Barrett are not involved tonight.
