Rovers swoop to sign Butler
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers have signed a replacement for departed skipper Brian Attley – but he won’t be in the side for tomorrow’s visit of Wolverhampton United (3pm).
Manager Frank Northwood’s move to capture full back Dave Butler from fellow title chasers Harrison’s came too late for the player to be registered for tomorrow.

So Ian Earley is expected to continue at right back in a squad unchanged from that which beat Hinckley Athletic 2 – 0 at the Moat Ground in midweek.

But vastly experienced Butler, who spent four years with North American club Seattle Sounders after stints with West Bromwich Albion, Shrewsbury Town and Workington in the league, will be challenging strongly for a place during Rovers’ crucial Easter programme in which they entertain championship favourites Halesowen and Atherstone.
