Brigg Town pre-match news

Gresley Rovers manager Gary Norton has named his squad to face Brigg Town in their first league game of the season.
Missing are Andy Spencer, who is struggling with a groin injury and Tony Hemmings who is away on holiday.

New signings Colin Hoyle and Dan Douglas look set to make their debuts and striker Ravi Sangha resume his Gresley career after a five-year break.

Norton said: "I think we have a stronger squad than we had at the start of last year. The major downside is that we've lost Mickey Lyons who gave us great creativity, but it gives others the chance to step up.

"We've also lost Allan Davies, but have replaced him with two good right-backs in Andy Spencer and Dan Douglas, while Colin Hoyle brings tremendous leadership and experience."

"Brigg are a well-organised side," said Norton. "They will be very tough and hard to break down. Both sides have two wins apiece against each other over the last two seasons and I'm expecting our Lincolnshire visitors to be among the promotion pack this time around."

Hoyle has been handed the captain's armband by Norton, who said of his new skipper: "He was captain at Ilkeston last season, is a natural leader and has vast experience, and he commanded the respect of the dressing room as soon as he walked in the door."

Gresley from: Whittle, G White, Carter, Millns, Simpson, Hoyle, Holmes, Douglas, Barrett, Slater, Gomm, O'Connor, Edwards, Betteridge, Sangha.
