Gresley Rovers have appointed Mick Curry as Gary Norton's new Assistant Manager.
The 37-year-old former Ipswich Town and Burton Albion striker joins the Club as part of Gresley's backroom re-organisation after switching from the Managers role at Stapenhill FC.

As well as enjoying two good spells as Manager at Stapenhill, Curry is in the final stages of qualifying for the UEFA "A" coaching licence; facts that convinced Norton that Curry was the right man for the job.

Norton said today: "I am delighted that Mick has agreed to join us and I can't wait to start working together to plan for next season. He was our number one target from the start and I was determined to make sure we got our man.

"I feel that with his background Mick is perfect for the role, he will bring fresh ideas to the club. He's got a good record in management during his two spells in charge at Stapenhill and has excellent coaching credentials, big factors in asking him to join us at the Moat. I've known him for years and cannot wait for us to start working together in our new partnership. He is very passionate about the game and like me, ambitious and hungry for success in everything he does. I know it was a very tough decision for Mick to leave Stapenhill because of how much he loves that club but I'm sure everyone will wish him well in his new challenge."

Also joining Gresley Rovers as part of the coaching staff is Raffaele Long who is part of football development at Mackworth College and is also a coach educator for the Derbyshire Football Association. Norton added: "Like Mick, Raffa is in the final stages of completing his UEFA "A" badge. Their arrival adds to the growing excellent pool of coaching knowledge and experience that we have at the Club at the various levels - which will give us the foundation to improve things from where we are now and hopefully take us on to a new level. Together with Alan (Titterton), I am convinced that we have taken another step forward and have put together an excellent backroom team that will be focused and strong, using their skills and experience in areas that will give Gresley Rovers a real and valued contribution."

On his appointment Curry commented, "I'm really glad of the chance to be joining a Club like Gresley Rovers and I'm really thankful to Gary and Mark Evans the Chairman for giving me this opportunity. Of course I'm sad to be leaving Stapenhill but see this as a great chance to progress and I can't wait to start working."
