Rovers poised to sign Mr Big
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers are poised to capture Hinckley Athletic’s giant central defender Nick Stanborough.
The long-service centre half has announced his intention to quit Middlefield Lane with Rovers heading a possee of clubs interested in acquiring his signature.

But Rovers boss Steve Dolby admitted today he was not prepared to add the 6ft 4in stopper to the Moat Ground payroll without having a look first.

“When we heard that Nicky was available we were obviously interested. He’s highly regarded in West Midland League circles and has had trials quite recently with Leicester City. But it’s a season or two since I’ve seen him play so we’ve arranged for him to play in two or three pre-season games before making a decision.”

If the 23-year-old Stanborough fits the bill he could represent the latest piece in Rovers Beazer Premier jigsaw.
