Goalkeeper Bob Aston is on his way back to Gresley Rovers.
The Moat Ground favourite – shown the door by former Rovers boss Frank Northwood after the club’s FA Vase defeat at Newcastle Town in January – is the latest signing by new boss Steve Dolby.

Dolby said today: “As far as I’m concerned Bob is the best and most experienced keeper around and I’m very pleased he’s coming back. He gave the club five years’ excellent service and I don’t know a better keeper. Bob was my first choice for the job.

“It’s another piece in the jigsaw completed. I’m now looking to strengthen the squad in just one more position.”

Aston’s return marks the end of the line for Simon Harrison, who took over in goal last season.

Harrison is currently job-hunting in the south of England and is not expected to return to Gresley.
