Cirencester pre-match news
If Richard Wardle plays in the game against Cirencester tomorrow (Saturday) he will set a new club record of 569 appearances beating Moat Ground favourite Barry Fitchett (568).
Jon Newsome will have Steve Rutter and Andy Bourne back in the squad, after both missed the midweek clash at Shepshed due to work commitments, and Jamie Barrett who has completed his one match ban.

Still out, however, is injured pair Ian Bluck (knee) and Neil Kitching (thigh). Defender Andy Cheetham (dead leg) is rated as doubtful but will take a late fitness test and midfielder Craig Hopkins has work commitments.

Newsome was delighted by the report of the game at Shepshed from Alan Titterton and Gary Norton. Missing due to a private engagement, Newsome had relied on his assistant Titterton and reserves team boss Norton to take charge of the local derby match.

“They said we had worked hard and the general feeling was that we were the better team and were disappointed not to take all the points, he remarked. “It was pleasing to hear that we played as a solid unit and and kept a clean sheet.

“On our travels to Taunton last weekend we let ourselves down and hopefully we can travel a bit better tomorrow. I think that if we go into the game in the right frame of mind we can get something out of the game because we are good enough.

Bourne is in the squad despite being given permission to speak to Rocester who have put in seven days notice for him.

Newsome said: “I have told Andy that I don’t want him to leave Gresley but I have allowed him to speak to Rocester. But as yet I’ve heard nothing.”

Gresley from: Lindley, Wardle, White, Timms, Evans, Moran, Bourne, Peters, Rutter, Eagling, Gray, Alexander, Barrett, Cheetham, Slater, Tate, Parkinson, Sheils.
