Gresley Rovers player-boss John McGinlay was looking on the bright side despite seeing his side suffer their fourth successive defeat when beaten 2-1 by third placed Mangotsfield United on Saturday.
Despite defeat, McGinlay was pleased with certain aspects of his side's display, with his two new signings receiving most of the plaudits.

James Lindley, a 21-year-old keeper on loan from Notts County, and striker Shaun Bedward, who scored on his Rovers debut after signing from Bromsgrove, looked impressive.

Said the Moat boss of Lindley: " He made some excellent saves in the first half to give the rest of the team confidence. We made a few lapses at the back which, at the end of the day, cost us again."

McGinlay added that the second half performance was much better and that he was impressed by the fact that Bedwald and substitute Ravi Sangha's pace troubled Mangotsfield.

Sangha replaced Gresley's leading scorer Simon Tucker, who was unable to add to his impressive tally for the Moatmen.

" Bedward and, later on, Sangha's pace caused them problems and it's nice to have competition for places," said McGinlay. " Tucker didn't look his sharpest and now he knows he's got competition for his place it'll be interesting to see how he reacts."

McGinlay, who missed the game with a calf injury, is unlikely to be fit for tomorrow's (Tues) visit of league leaders Hinckley United.

Jamie Roberts, who has lost over a stone in weight after a severe bout of gastroenteritis, and Ian Bluck, who was stretchered off on Saturday with a knee injury, are also likely to be missing.

However, McGinlay said he was hopeful of signing two more players in time for tomorrow's clash.
