Moat boss planning for the future

John McGinlay is slowly beginning to put his mark on Gresley Rovers as he starts to build for next season.
With two more additions to his squad confirmed this week, McGinlay has now brought four players in since he was appointed Moat boss at the end of December.

And the former Bolton and Scotland striker admitted he is started to feel more at home now he is having greater influence on the shaping of the Moatmen.

This week saw the arrival of Notts County goalkeeper James Lindley on a month's loan and former Bromsgrove striker Shaun Bedwald on a permanent basis.

Their arrival along with earlier signings Barry Woolley from Rocester and Ravi Sangha from Midland Alliance outfit Wednesfield have, according to the Moat boss, given the squad a timely boost.

The fact McGinlay is bringing in fresh faces inevitably means he will have to let players go and defender Carl Reynolds became the first to leave the Moat Ground when he agreed to join Borrowash Victoria.

Said McGinlay: "As well as making sure we finish as high as we can this season we have also got to build for next season. Some players have been a bit too comfortable but the competition for places is increasing."
