Swans lose out as Brian double back

Brian Beresford’s shuttle mission between Gresley Rovers and Stapenhill has come to rest at the Moat Ground.
Swans’ manager Mick Allsopp has given the seasoned striker the all-clear to help shore up Rovers’ hectic campaign in the run-up to their Wembley showdown.

Beresford pulls on Gresley colours in the Banks’s League Premier Division clash at Wednesfield tomorrow (3pm) with Allsopp’s blessing and with Rovers’ thanks.

”We are obviously sorry to lose Brian because it could affect our championship hopes, but at 37 he is unlikely to get another chance to be in the Wembley squad, so he goes to Gresley with our good wishes,” said Allsop.

Beresford’s arrival at Gresley will lift some of the injury pressures on the team who this week faced another scare over defender Martin Dick.

”We are pleased Brian has been allowed to return to the club for the run in to the Vase final and are grateful to Mick Allsopp for that,” said Rovers’ secretary Peter Jenkinson.

Gresley have about 1,000 tickets for the May 4th final left and are applying for more £10 tickets after selling out. Tickets go on sale at the Moat Ground tomorrow between 1-3pm.

Rovers’ main doubt for tomorrow is over the fitness of keeper Bob Aston, whose calf injury is posing him problems with kicking, and Tony Moore is added to the squad.
