Les served with the Royal Army Service Corps from 1940 to 1945 and saw action in France, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Italy. He reached the rank of sergeant by the end of the war. He played football for several army teams.

Much loved landlord of the Marquis of Lorne, Uxbridge St, Burton.

Sadly Les died in 1988.

During the War years 1939-1945 records are not reliable as many games and players were not published in the local press.
Also, players were called up and played as and when they were available.
These figures are based on the most reliable available.
