v Shepshed Dynamo (a) 5th January 2004

Steve MacKenzie was born in Romford and signed for Manchester City in July 1979 aged 17 yrs from Crystal Palace for 250,000 that was a record for a teenager at the time. Steve missed just three League matches in the season 1980-81 that ended with the 100th FA Cup final at Wembley against Tottenham Hotspur - the game ended 1-1.

Steve scored the equaliser with a superb volley in the replay only to be outshone by Spurs' Ricky Villa who scored arguably the best goal seen in a Wembley final.

At the start of the following season Steve joined West Bromwich Albion for 650000 before moving on to Charlton Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday and Shrewsbury Town.
Made 350 League appearances

Steve scored for Gresley on his debut in a 3-0 win.
