Gresley Rovers boss John McGinlay may make his playing debut for the club in tomorrows FA Umbro Trophy third round clash at Congleton (3pm).
McGinlay is named in the squad for the first time since he took over as manager two weeks ago, but he has stressed he will only take to the field if he has to.

The former Scotland and Bolton Striker wants to stick with the side that beat Sutton Coldfield on Town in the Dr Martens Cup on Tuesday night, but his hand may be forced.

Said McGinlay this morning: " There is a chance I may be involved on the playing side tomorrow, but that is simply because we have a few knocks. I would like to keep the same side as I was very pleased with the attitude and performance the other night."

Mark Peters and Justin O'Reilly are suspended, while Andy Cheetham was due to see a doctor this morning about a back injury and is rated as "very doubtful", although Mark Dennis should be fit after a bout of flu.

McGinlay has had Congleton watched and knows his side are in for a tough battle.

"Congleton are a big, strong and physical side who play a direct style and get balls into the box as quick as possible," said McGinlay.

"They like to win as many corners and free-kicks as possible, so we have got to stand up to them before we can start playing football."
