Financial Crisis at the Moat
Pete Hall

A grim message was spelled out by Frank McArdle following a probe into the clubs finances.
Accountants Johnson, Murkett, and Hurst, of Ashby, revealed the depth of the financial crisis Rovers' have sunk into since winning the Dr. Martens League three seasons ago. Rovers' Chairman, Peter Hall (pictured right) said in a statement: "The club needs to take drastic and urgent action and plans to do so to bring the club back into a stable situation. The club has drawn up a short-term business plan. For it to work it will require the co-operation of players, the club's creditors and supporters. The club has got to come to terms with the fact, that for the first time in nine years it's status has been in decline and it has got to cut it's cloth accordingly. It will be painful, but worthwhile if it results in the club enjoying an upturn in it's fortunes." Meanwhile, Frank McArdle is to continue in his advisory role for the next few weeks to engage the local community in a rescue package. He said: "People can contact the club and offer to help in any way they can. Any offer of help will not be refused, be it financial, introducing new business, or simply by walking through the turnstiles. It's my mission, and that of the board, to rescue the club. I've presented the board with an assessment of the situation and they've recognised that it is dire. Drastic action is needed."
