Gresley Rovers kicked off pre season training with the introduction to the players of a new face amongst the management team.
Joining Jon Newsome and Alan Titterton will be Mark Hall. Mark was during last season Director of Scouting at Yeovil Town and was offered a coaching position with the Club for the coming season, but did not want to relocate.

Wanting to remain in football, Mark contacted various Clubs seeking a managerial/coaching role. Other Clubs recommended Gresley to him.

Mark Hall contacted Club Chairman Mark Evans and following meetings with both Jon and Mark Evans was offered the position as Jon’s assistant.

Mark is UEFA ‘A’ qualified, and spent 2 years at Notts County Centre of Excellence.
During his playing career has spent time with Leicester City, Halifax Town, Oxford United and has played at Altrincham, Worksop Town and Belper Town.

Mark said, “I am very happy to join the Club – I have enjoyed the short time I have been with the Club –it is very friendly and warm. I am looking forward to working with Jon and Alan. The players seem a great set of lads. It’s a fantastic set up for a non league club.”

Club Chairman Mark Evans commented that it has always been the intention of the Club to build a good coaching base – throughout the Club, from the juniors to the first team. We have already started to send team managers on additional FA courses and will continue to do so. Mark joining the Club provides an additional resource to the first team, but also valuable experience and expertise to the Club. It is important to this Club for us to see our Players develop as individuals and as a team.

Jon is pleased to welcome Mark, “ I feel that he will be a good quality addition, he is very enthusiastic and hard working”. He has a vast knowledge of non league football. I am looking forward to working with him and the managerial team we have across the Club at Gresley.”

Commenting on the pre season, Jon added.” It is very important to have a good pre season”. The matches that we have arranged will be a good test, but also provide us with a good foundation and allow us to be prepared to start the new season”.

In addition to his role as an Assistant to Jon, Alan Titterton has also been handed some other responsibilities. Mark Evans, Club Chairman has asked Alan to assist him to ensure that both the Youth and Reserve teams are provided with adequate resource and consideration. Mark Evans remarked: " It is important to remember that Gresley Rovers is a Football Club that includes junior, youth, reserve and a first team. So many football clubs have disbanded their youth and reserve sides. Both these sides are important to the Club. We have seen a very successful first season for our junior sides and they have a very good management team – I want to provide that sort of resource for our Youth and Reserve sides. Alan is a wonderful man, very dedicated to his football, and in particular Gresley Rovers. He has a great way with players and fantastic contacts locally. Already Alan has used this additional role to further the communication between the 3 sides – youth, reserve and first team."
