Striker Wells gets the boot
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Striker Ian Wells has been sacked by Gresley Rovers boss Frank Northwood.
Wells was pulled off 20 minutes from the end of Saturday’s shock 3-2 defeat at home to Chasetown with Northwood accusing the former Hereford United man of a lack of effort.

And the parting of ways was hastened by Northwood’s decision to fine the striker for failing to attend training last Thursday.

Secretary Peter Jenkinson said today: “Rumours are circulating that Wells has quit the club. That’s not true because the manager had already told me that he intended to get rid of him if he had to pull him off on Saturday because of a lack of effort.”
