Brian Kenning thinks goalkeeping errors have cost his Gresley Rovers side 10 goals so far this season.
The Moatmen have already used four different players between the sticks but Kenning is desperately trying to bring in an experienced keeper on loan to help solve the crisis.

Rovers began the season with Ian Wright in goal but his poor run of form opened the door for Richard Selby, signed in the summer from Hinckley United.

But Selby lasted only four games before going down with shoulder ligament damage, since when Kenning has used Wright again, 19-year-old Ian Simms and 16-year-old Simon Baldwin.

Simms cost the Moatmen two goals in their 3-2 win at home to Sutton Coldfield on Tuesday night and, with Selby still struggling to recover, Baldwin is in pole position at present.

Simon BaldwinBut Kenning is reluctant to force Baldwin to go through the rest of the season at such a young age and is looking to recruit an experienced goalkeeper.

Said the Moat boss: " I have tried to get two experienced keepers in but there is nothing doing, so I am making enquiries with a young lad who has been with a league club. It is unfair to play young Baldwin all the time, although he has done well and his attitude in training is excellent. I tried to work out the other night and I think goalkeeper errors have cost us 10 goals so far. We need an experienced keeper.

Richard Selby"Selby has played four games, we won three of those and I think we kept two or three clean sheets. Selby is getting close to being fit but it is an awkward injury and one that could go again with one fall. We are governed by him getting through a training session without any pain."

Kenning knows goalkeeping errors are currently undermining his side's lowly league position of 16th and wants it solved quickly.

" The other night against Sutton we took the lead twice only to see goalkeeping errors let them back into the game." Said the Moat boss.

"Sutton did not have to work at all to get their goals - we gave them away and the errors are costing us dear."
