Beresford axed

Rovers boss Frank Northwood rings the changes for tomorrow’s Banks’s League trip to Wolverhampton United (3pm).
Top of the casualty list after last week’s League Cup defeat against Tamworth is Brian Beresford.

That could mean near neighbours Stapenhill will make a new attempt to lure the experienced striker from the Moat Ground.

Beresford was on the brink of joining the Swans earlier this year, but he made a dramatic return to Gresley’s side with eight goals in four games.

After two blank Saturday’s, however, Northwood has decided to restore Keith Hill as Martin Devaney’s partner in attack.

Clive Arthur also expects a recall in midfield in place of out-of-form Jon Laws.

Northwood said: “It’s only people willing to die for me and Gresley Rovers who are worth a shirt.”
