Gresley Rovers will field a shock newcomer in their FA Vase Fourth Round team at the Moat Ground on Saturday.
Manager Frank Northwood brings in former Tamworth veteran Roy Sullivan in goal following a final split with erratic keeper Karl Austin.

“Austin is on the transfer list and won’t play for Gresley again,” said Northwood after last night’s brilliant Banks’s League Cup win at Oldbury United. “Sullivan was signed before the last round and plays on Saturday against Northampton Spencer. We’re finished with Austin.”

Austin is believed to have made one-too-many excuse for failing to turn out for Gresley, opening the way for the 31-year-old Sullivan, who has also played for Mile Oak and Moor Green, but it is believed to be short on recent appearances.

Northwood said: “Roy’s a good lad – there’s no problem with him.”

Meanwhile, the Rovers chief is quietly confident of success against the little-fancied United Counties League side.

“I’m optimistic. I saw them play recently and they lost 5-3. They look as though they can score but they give a lot away. But we’ve got to realise that they’re in the last 32 so they’re no mugs.”

Northwood awaits a fitness report of injured full back Martin Dick for Saturday’s squad, but expects to welcome back fit-again midfielder Joe Jackson and striker Martin Devaney.
