Rovers earn a Vase tonic
Story courtesy of Burton Mail
Gresley Rovers began the countdown to their eagerly-awaited FA Vase clash with Northampton Spencer next Saturday by booking a place in the last four of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.
Rovers overcame Heanor Town thanks to two goals from Brian Beresford and are now in the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 1982 when they lost to Matlock Town.

And tomorrow night they can earn another semi-final berth when they meet Oldbury United in their replay of the Banks’s League Cup quarter-final.

Manager Frank Northwood has two major injury headaches to clear up before Saturday’s Moat Ground clash.

Striker Martin Devaney is still recovering from a blow on the head suffered during the Oldbury game and midfielder Joe Jackson is trying to shake off the effects of an ankle injury which forced him out of Saturday’s game.
