South Normanton Athletic Pre-Match News
Kieran O’Connell will miss a return to former club South Normanton Athletic for tonight’s friendly but defender Kane Jellyman does, however, make his return to the at the M J Robinson Structures Arena after signing for Gresley last week after an impressive pre-season to date.
O’Connell misses the game on the back of physio advice to help clear up a niggling foot injury and will also miss training later this week and the weekend home fixture against Matlock Town.

Zakim Evans (work commitments) Matt Roome (hol) and Alex Steadman (hol) are also unavailable to make the trip. Midfield trialists Luke Morgan and Cam Steele are involved in tonight’s squad

Also missing tonight, as on Saturday, is manager Gary Norton who is away on a family holiday. Carl Slater and Jamie Barrett will oversee tonight’s affairs and will hope the squad perform as they did on Saturday in the 4-2 win over Hinckley Athletic at the Moat Ground.

Norton is pleased with how preseason is going to date telling gresleyfc.com: “Things are taking shape nicely and we are happy with how things are shaping up at this point in pre-season.

"There is still lots to do on some of the basic shape and organisation work we want to have instilled before the start of the season but, so far, we are pleased with how things are going. We can work on those bits plus some set play work when we get on the training pitch but this run of games has shown us a lot of things as a management team and given us lots to think about.

"We are also starting also to look at one or two different formations to help us prepare for the challenges ahead. I had very good reports following Saturday's game from Carl and Jamie after we tried a new diamond formation in midfield and will link in with them after tonight’s game. I’m looking forward to being back in the dugout at Saturday's game against Matlock at the Moat Ground”. (3pm kickoff)
