Morecambe pre-match news
Gresley Rovers manager John McGinlay is backing his players to cause another upset in the FA Umbro Trophy tomorrow at Morecambe.
“Morecambe are a very good side, who like to play football, but I would back us to beat anyone in a one-off game. They won’t take us lightly after the Southport game.

“I know their manager Jim Harvey quite well and his preparation will be very thorough. Morecambe’s pitch is good and it will lend itself to some good football. I think it will be an open game.

“We will not be at full strength and one or two of the reserves will have to come in. In an ideal world it would not happen but it’s a good opportunity for them.

“One thing I’m sure of the players will not let anyone down.”

Gresley will be without Ian Bluck who is suspended and a decision on Jake Fairbrother will be made as late as possible.

Fairbrother trained on Thursday, which was the first time he’d kicked a ball since damaging his knee during the replay against Southport in the last round. McGinlay will wait to see if there has been a reaction from the knee before deciding to risk him.

Lee Westwood and McGinlay himself have both shook off the effects of the flu and should be in the squad.

Reserve team players Lee Withers, Jon Jenkinson and Ian Roberts have been called into the squad travelling tomorrow.

Gresley from: Lindley, Wardle, Evans, Woolley, Cheetham, Peters, Cleary, Fairbrother, Bourne, Westwood, Gray, Parkins, White, Moran, McGinlay, Withers, Jenkinson, Roberts.

 We have been asked to remind anyone travelling to Morecambe that away fans will not be allowed in the social club before the game and also to use turnstiles 12 – 14. Access will be allowed into the main stand.

 Because of the poor weather forecast for tomorrow, Morecambe have arranged for a precautionary pitch inspection at Christie Park at 10am Saturday morning. Please ensure the game is on before travelling.
