Retford pre-match news
Gresley Rovers manager Gary Norton has had his plans disrupted though injury as Rovers start their UniBond One South campaign with a trip to Retford United on Saturday.
Andy Simpson, missed the Eastwood game and the friendly/training game midweek against the reserves with a groin problem in the hope of making the game at Cannon Park. Unfortunately, the injury will prevent Simpson from making the trip.

Also missing will be midfielder Carl Slater who is still being troubled by a knee injury picked up towards the end of last season.

Adam Henchcliffe who suffered a knee injury playing for Tamworth faces another four weeks at least before he can resume training.

Tom Betteridge is to begin light training but Morgan Hurley is still unavailable due to a hamstring injury.

The midweek training game saw both Lee Kinsett and Liam Shirley pick up injuries with Shirley having to have an x-ray on his foot after kicking the bottom of someone's foot. No bones are broken but he still has pain and swelling and will be a major doubt.
Kinsett twisted a knee and will have to see if he is fit to play.

With Simpson missing, Martyn Rowntree looks likely to join Jamie Hood in the centre of the defence with Nicky Cater, Tom Groves, Chris Sleath, Shaun Ridgway and Adam Barradell all vying for the midfield slots.

Norton does have to make a decision of who plays up front alongside striker Paul Edwards.

Luke Edwards is a possibility should he be available from Tamworth but Karl Payne, who was in with a chance of starting up front, will be unavailable because he has gone on a surprise holiday arranged by his wife.

Norton will also have to decide who takes the keeper's jersey with both David Clarke and Tom Allan available. The decision has been made all the harder by both keepers having impressive games in pre-season
