Gresley Rovers have confirmed that Hednesford Town the Conference North newcomers are now trying to temp last seasons 28 goal top scorer Aaron O'Connor to Keys Park, just a week after influential midfielder Jamie Barrett left the Moat Ground to join them.
The 20 year old forward who swept the board with 6 awards at the clubs end of season awards dinner is considering a substantial package offered by Hednesford and has also received interest from several other clubs for his services next season.

Rovers manager Gary Norton revealed that this was an crucial weekend, and that both him and the Chairman would be meeting with the player, "Aaron has had a fair bit of interest from other clubs, we have discussed things at length in a bid to try and keep him here for next season and talks have gone well, but he is still considering his options.

He added "We are desperate to keep him at the Club and have offered him the best deal we can within the capabilities of our budget. We can't compete with the type of money other clubs are offering but it's not just about money with players like Aaron. He's a really level headed and sensible guy and rightly he's thinking things through carefully. We have a further meeting scheduled over the weekend but at the of the day the decision rests with Aaron."
