McGinlay snaps up Parkins
Gresley Rovers player-manager John McGinlay has raided local rivals Mickleover Sports to sign striker Chris Parkins.
Parkins was prolific in front of goal during Sports' Northern Counties East League Division One campaign last season and McGinlay sees the 25-year-old as the perfect replacement for Leek Town-bound Simon Tucker.

"Chris has proved that he can score goals and I am sure he will have no problem adjusting to our level of football," said McGinlay. "He was at Gresley when he was a youngster, so Chris knows a bit about the club and should settle in very easily."

McGinlay has also added right-sided defender Ashley Brown to his squad and is currently in talks with a left-sided midfielder and a striker.

"Ashley was playing in the Leicestershire Senior League last season and impressed us while we were watching somebody else," said McGinlay. "He is a good defender who can pass the ball and get forward well. He is flexible and will be a valuable addition to our squad. I am still talking to a couple of players - one of them a left-sided midfielder, who has been playing in the Northern Premier League."

Defender Neil Broadhurst has left Gresley and returned to Belper Town for his second spell.
